Hair Attack

I noticed that with maturity comes unwanted traits that I never seemed to be aware of in people before. I have aches in parts of my body caused by sport when I still thought of myself as invincible, for example if I am on the floor it requires a set of moves that would make a Chinese wrestler proud just to get back on my feet.

Another side effect or mutation is the emergence of Lone Ranger hairs.
They work alone, spring up when you least expect them and will ride against the natural direction of the other hairs. They also prefer areas where they can expose themselves to world with pride, ears, eyebrows and nostrils to name three. I was not going to be intimidated by one such hair on my eyebrow and decided to attack it with a set of tweezers, I should add that my Simon or Nicole are normally the ones that remove these outcasts of society for me.
So the battle commenced.
I lost.
I was slaughtered and for my efforts I now sported a bald spot which is not in fashion and could not be covered up. I believe the final tally was as follows, "Mad Grey Hair's removed nil and normal eyebrow hairs removed twenty".

For my last tattoo on my back, the area had to be shaved before the tattoo commenced, I have come to accept that it is a battle that I am beginning to lose. However, every now and then I arise like a phoenix and attack and pluck and shave till I am once more granted access to state acceptable to 10 years ago.

War

I watched a movie that drew so many emotions from me last night that I just felt I had to write about it. My girlfriend (and yes I am smiling as I type this) suggested a movie called "Across the Universe". It is a musical based on the music of the Beatles set in America during the Vietnam War.

What really got to me was the draft system and how it was enforced. In South Africa, we had no choice and were sent off after high school to train to fight in a war we didn't believe in.

What infuriates me is that the 2 years wasted were gone, there were definitely aspects that were gained including special friendships and mental toughness.
Some folk were changed for the worse and some didn't recover.
War is simply a commercial exercise used to run corrupt economies and the impact on the pawns used to commit the killing is a calculated casualty.

You and I are simply numbers and as such are not entitled to think, speak or question the motive behind it. I admire those who protested against it and challenged the system, they called the government murderers.

"War! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing!"

Day 94

The battle has been raging for some time and our resources are low, we have sustained attack upon attack and our forces are weary.

At first we attempted to contain the enemy to one area, but this failed and we have lost ground steadily. The morale of the troops is low and there are murmurs that maybe this a battle we cannot win without an alliance. I hope it will not come to that. The alliance they speak of is clinical in its methods, it destroys both enemy and friend alike and leaves the battlefield barren and desolate.

And so I have made an executive decision, antibiotics will not be our partner in this war, a combination of homeopathic infantry and cold/flu specialists will lead us in an assault on the core of the enemy, if we slay the master of the beast perhaps the beast will lose heart.

My head aches, my body is tired and my throat is raw, I am armed and ready for battle, I am prepared to fight.

Let the onslaught begin!

Stages of Life

There are stages in ones life that require different strengths, different skills and different motives.

When I was in the army, I required strength of mind and physical endurance to survive the first 6 months, sanity for the next 4 months and then the ability to play the game better than the system the following 18 months. It was a case of being one step ahead of the enemy, in this case a 18 year neanderthal who assumed he was God and made sure you remembered it.

It was a case of fighting fire and threats with stupidity and confusion, ignorance in the hands of many can humble a self made God and cause him to speak in rages that sent spittle flying like vegetables from a 2 year olds mouth.
If you succeeded in defeating them and the system, you had won and they had very little power over you.

Courting on the other hand involved charm, patience and hidden agendas, it was more espionage that direct confrontational warfare. You wou attempt to extract information with subtle hints, inexpensive gifts and kisses that would have sucked the false teeth out of a grannies mouth. The young passion, the gleam in the eye, the telephone calls that seem to last forever yet produced no answers. It was like hugging an octopus, you knew it was dangerous but convinced yourself you could leave at any time. And all this time the game of cat and mouse continued.

Then the male proposed, his offer was accepted after a few attempts and he assumed he had the upper hand. He would son be lord of his mansion with his young wife eager and willing and waiting on his new found wisdom.
Or so he assumed!
It was not long before the tables were turned, the hunter became the trapped deer transfixed in the road as the bright lights raced towards him. He felt no pain as he was stripped of title, his estate and his wisdom.
She had him.
She smiled sweetly.
She had him.

It is the circle of wife, sorry life and as such we live, love, gather memories and shed tears.

I have no regrets, only memories and maybe the slightest glimmer of hope.
